Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for Bowl

Thank you for using Bowl ("the App"). This document outlines our commitment to your privacy and the terms you agree to when using the App.

Privacy Policy

  1. Most of Your Data is Stored Locally.Your nutritional data, meal logs, and goals are stored only on your device unless you join a group. We do not have access to this local data, and it is never sent to our servers.
  2. Account & Display Name.To join a group, you create an account with a display name — no email or phone number is required. We use Supabase, a third-party backend provider, to store your account identifier, display name, and group membership.
  3. What Group Members Can See.If you join a group, other members of that group can see the meal-wise macros and daily totals you log, along with your display name. Meals you log outside of a group remain private.
  4. Data Retention & Account Deletion.You can delete your account at any time from Settings. This removes your account, display name, and group memberships from our servers. Group activity already visible to other members before you left or deleted your account is not retroactively removed from their view.
  5. No Ads or Trackers.The App is free of advertisements and third-party trackers. We do not run analytics or crash reporting.

Terms of Service

  1. You Own Your Content.You retain full ownership of and responsibility for all data and content you create or share in the App, including meal logs, custom foods, and goals.
  2. Account & Display Name.Your display name is not verified and does not need to match your real identity. You agree not to impersonate another person or mislead the members of a group you join. We may suspend or remove accounts that misuse this feature.
  3. Groups & Shared Data.Joining a group shares your meal-wise macros and daily totals with other members of that group, as described in our Privacy Policy. Leaving a group or deleting your account does not retroactively remove data already visible to members before you left.
  4. Acceptable Use.You agree not to use groups to harass, mislead, or share inappropriate content with other users. We may suspend or remove accounts engaged in abuse.
  5. Not Medical Advice.The App is intended for general informational and personal tracking purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical or dietary advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making significant changes to your diet.
  6. Back Up Your Data.Data you have not shared with a group is stored only on your device, and we cannot help you recover it if you lose your device or uninstall the App. You are solely responsible for backing up your data.
  7. Disclaimer of Warranty.The App is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that nutritional information is error-free or that the App will meet all your needs.
  8. Limitation of Liability.In no event shall the developer be liable for any damages (including data loss, health-related decisions, or disputes between users arising from group sharing) arising from the use of or inability to use the App.
  9. Changes to These Terms.We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
